Regular Customers

Automatically detect and track customers who purchase the same products on a predictable schedule, so you never miss an expected order.

Overview

The Regular Customers feature helps you:

  • Detect patterns in customer purchasing behavior
  • Reserve inventory for expected repeat purchases
  • Plan orders based on upcoming regular customer needs
  • Reduce stockouts by anticipating demand

Perfect for businesses with subscription-like purchasing patterns, loyal customers, or B2B accounts with regular orders.

How Pattern Detection Works

OrderDay analyzes your order history to identify customers who:

  1. Purchase the same product at least 3 times
  2. Buy at consistent intervals (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, etc.)
  3. Show a predictable pattern over time

Confidence Scoring

Each detected pattern receives a confidence score based on:

FactorImpact
Number of purchasesMore purchases = higher confidence
Interval consistencyRegular timing = higher confidence
RecencyRecent purchases = higher confidence
Quantity consistencySimilar amounts = higher confidence

Patterns are shown with confidence indicators:

  • High confidence - Very consistent pattern, reliable prediction
  • Medium confidence - Good pattern, some variation
  • Low confidence - Pattern detected but less predictable

Using the Regular Customers Page

Viewing Detected Patterns

Navigate to Regular Customers in the OrderDay menu to see:

  • Customer name and contact info
  • Products they regularly purchase
  • Detected interval (e.g., "every 2 weeks")
  • Next expected order date
  • Confidence score

Filter Options

Use the filter tabs to focus on what matters:

FilterShows
AllAll detected patterns
UpcomingOrders expected in the next 14 days
OverdueExpected orders that haven't arrived yet
ConfirmedPatterns you've manually confirmed

Confirm or Dismiss Patterns

For each detected pattern, you can:

Confirm - Mark the pattern as accurate

  • Adds the customer to your confirmed regular customers
  • Creates automatic reserves for their expected orders
  • Shows in Order Day planning

Dismiss - Remove false positives

  • Removes the pattern from your list
  • Won't be suggested again for this customer/product combo
  • Can be re-enabled later if needed

The "Detect for Me" Button

If you know a customer orders regularly but the system hasn't detected it yet:

  1. Click Detect for Me on the Regular Customers page
  2. Search for the customer by name or email
  3. Select the product(s) they purchase regularly
  4. Enter the expected interval (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, custom)
  5. Set the expected quantity
  6. Click Save

This manually creates a regular customer entry that works just like auto-detected ones.

Reserves System

When a pattern is confirmed, OrderDay creates reserves for expected future orders.

How Reserves Work

  1. System calculates next expected order based on pattern
  2. Expected quantity is reserved from available inventory
  3. Reserve shows in Order Day with a purple "Reserved" badge
  4. When customer places order, reserve is fulfilled
  5. Next reserve is automatically scheduled

Viewing Reserves in Order Day

In the Order Day product table:

  • Purple "Reserved: X" badge shows total reserved quantity
  • Hover over the badge to see breakdown by customer
  • Warning indicator (red badge) appears when reserves exceed available inventory

This ensures you order enough to cover both regular sales and reserved customer needs.

Reserve Timing

Reserves are created for:

  • Upcoming orders - Within the next 30 days
  • Based on pattern - Using detected or manual interval
  • Auto-adjusted - Updates when patterns change

FAQ

Q: What if a customer's pattern changes?

A: OrderDay continuously monitors patterns. If intervals change, the system updates automatically. You can also manually edit the expected interval.

Q: Can I set different products for the same customer?

A: Yes, each product-customer combination is tracked separately. A customer might order Product A weekly and Product B monthly.

Q: Do reserves affect my Shopify inventory?

A: No, reserves are internal to OrderDay for planning purposes only. Shopify inventory levels are unchanged.

Q: What happens when I fulfill a reserved order?

A: The reserve is automatically cleared and the next one is scheduled based on the pattern.
